BTW, I am also abut to release some articles with hints and tips on the issue.
Data Engineering today is mostly used in Business Intelligence application models, although it should be used in any kind of system application.
This discipline is about how people should construct systems to be more flexible, cheaper and yet more powerful in order to help companies stay competitive.
There are many titles on the issue, but please feel free to ask me any practical questions you may have. I will search for related titles and will publish them at the site.
Thanks for asking - I can tell you that the methodology and associated processes actually pay if correctly used.
